about
Roanoke seamlessly blend a 70s/80s aesthetic with modern sensibility by delving into a mystic rock core. Recorded in the midst of a breakup between the two lead singers, their new single “If You’re Gonna Leave” takes the best of classic songwriting and adds a modern sheen. This Feel Good, Indie Pop/Rock Road Trip song is laced with mysticism, dreamy guitars, a sprinkle of synth, a driving rhythm section, and layers of 70’s style harmonies.
“If You’re Gonna Leave” is an energetic, moody, and ethereal song that will make you want to take a long drive with the windows down. The song was recorded in legendary Muscle Shoals, produced by Roanoke and bassist Richard Bennett, and mixed/engineered by Grammy Award winner Craig Alvin (Kacey Musgraves, Hanson, Brittany Howard, Little Big Town)
lyrics
Verse 1
Full moon shinin’ on your hair it was rainin’ everywhere
Whisper from the wind it was February air
Pre Chorus 1
Feet don’t fail me now
On my way back down
Chorus 1
If you’re gonna leave me baby
If you’re gonna leave me baby
Verse 2
We were driving through the night I was wearing out your name
Waiting for a sign I was waiting for the day
Pre Chorus 2
Keep me safe and sound
On my way back down
Chorus 2
If you’re gonna leave me baby
If you’re gonna leave me baby
If you’re gonna leave me baby
Take me when you go
Take me when you go
Bridge
Full moon shinin’ on your hair it was rainin’ everywhere
Rainin’ everywhere
Chorus 3
If you’re gonna leave me baby
If you’re gonna leave me baby
If you’re gonna leave me baby
Take me when you go
Take me when you go
Take me when you go
Take me when you go
